Herman Jean Joseph Richir (1866 - 1942) was active/lived in Belgium.  Herman Richir is known for Portrait, allegory and mythology painting-female figure, teaching.

Richir Herman Jean Joseph, born in Ixelles on 4 December 1866 and died in Uccle on 15 March 1942 , was a painter academic Belgian scenes allegorical and mythological subject, and is especially known for his painting of woman. He also did paintings of still life and landscapes.

He also produced posters under the pseudonym Hamner (an anagram of his name), including two chromolithographs advertising Delhaize style Art Nouveau.

Herman Richir entered the Academy of Fine Arts of Saint-Josse-ten-Node and received backing from Charles Hermans who provided valuable advice. From 1884 to 1889 he continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels under the direction of Jean-François Portaels. Already a memer of the Academy in 1885, Richir ranked second in the Prix de Rome behind Constant Montald. In 1889, he obtained the triennial exhibition of Ghent, a gold medal for his group The Family Meulenbergh Ward.
